Under 9 Durham Division 2
11 September 2011
TSC U9’s sponsored by NPG Process travelled away to Newton Aycliffe Eagles for their first ever competitive match together as a team.
TSC started the game tremendously well, taking kick off and instantly looking at ease, passing the ball around and allowing all members of the team to have a touch of the ball. This passing vain continued throughout the full first half, with Luke Chrystal and Lewis Johnson providing an excellent foundation for the team to work forward from.
This passing football left Newton Aycliffe chasing shadows, and deservedly TSC took the lead with five minutes played. Sam Graham picked the ball up in midfield and used his technique to beat a player before passing to Archie Kidd. Archie produced an excellent finish to score the U9’s first goal and give them a 1-0 lead. TSC continued to try really hard, and the effort of Oscar Taylor and Daniel Leroi Smith saw TSC create another chance only two minutes later. The ball again was played through to Archie Kidd, whose powerful effort was unstoppable as it hit the Newton Aycliffe net, giving TSC a 2-0 lead. It wasn’t long before goal number three arrived. Some good work at the back by Luke Chrystal saw the ball played forward to Archie Kidd, who made no mistake from close range, netting his hat-trick after just over ten minutes. As half time drew closer, TSC’s final chance of the half saw Daniel Leroi Smith hit the post after another fine team move.
In the second period, TSC again continued to try and pass the ball around and find holes in the Newton Aycliffe defence.
Jack Hurworth in the TSC goal had next to nothing to do during the game, but he remained alert to come out and collect the ball on a couple of occasions. Whilst TSC understandably tired during the second half, they did manage to add a fourth goal. Sam Graham got his name onto the score sheet after he beat a couple of Newton Aycliffe defenders before finishing into the corner of the net.
