Be Aware!
Bogus Scout? or Not sure whether someone is who they say they are? - Always check ID's.
DCFA have been advised by one of our clubs that on 8th April one of their junior matches was attended by an adult male who was standing alone at the side of the pitch and was not known to either side. When approached by club officials he claimed to be a scout from a national league football club. He could not produce any ID and did not give his name; nor did he wear any official club clothing. He then left the venue.
DCFA therefore requests all clubs to remain vigilant.
If you identify anyone or receive an approach from anyone pertaining to be a club scout who is also unwilling or unable to provide any ID to confirm their position this should be reported both to the event organiser and DCFA. If they are travelling by car their car registration number could be obtained, however be careful not to provoke a confrontation. Should a situation become inflamed it may be necessary to involve the police.
Any scout intending to watch a match would be expected to contact club officials or league organiser either on the day of a fixture or in advance of it and produce their ID on the day.
It also needs to be remembered that members of the general public may also wish to watch a match and this is clearly acceptable - so when enquiring of a person why they are in attendance at a match discretion should always be employed
